When to Repair, When to Replace?
It is common knowledge that repairs are inexpensive than replacement, but such a generalization isn’t always feasible. Similarly, windshield Auto Glass Repair cost less and hence preferred by insurance companies and customers alike. But this is not always the case. For instance, repairs are not advised when the break is directly within the driver’s vision, or if it is beyond a certain length. Following are the other instances when a replacement is advised in favor of repair:
• A Windshield Replacement is a must if the area where the glass is broken falls within the Driver’s Primary Viewing Area (DPVA). A DPVA ideally includes area that is 12 inches across at the center on the driver’s position and includes area from the top to the bottom of the driver’s side wiper sweep.
• When the inner pane of the glass breaks, repair becomes impossible.
• Insurance companies do not accept repairs when the break is beyond a certain length. This length depends on the company.
