Whether you travel to Dallas on Amtrak’s luxurious Texas Eagle (highly recommended) or not, once you get to Dallas, you’ll find the Dallas Area Rapid Transit System (also known as DART) a very convenient way to get around Dallas.
Once you get to Dallas, take advantage of The Dallas Area Rapid Transit System to get to a variety of locations and attractions in Dallas. Maybe you’ll want to ride downtown or get to a Dallas Mavericks basketball game. DART rail systems are a perfect way to get there.

Not only is the Dallas tx Area Rapid Transit convenient but it can be combined with special events and programs offered in Dallas. While there is no predicting what particular activity will be available when you are in town, there are often promotions sponsored or offered by DART.
Some promotions have included rides to the American Airlines Center to view performances of Michael Buble, Lady Gaga and Bret Michaels. Getting to the American Airlines Center on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit is a snap.
To purchase tickets for DART, you simply go to any station. Ticket vending machines are located at all of them. You’ll need to enter information about what type of ticket you ‘d like (day pass, single ride fare). After that, you can pay with $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills. It is as easy as that!

Here’s an insider tip worth knowing: you can take any DART train to West End Station and then transfer to any train with the word, “Victory” in its overhead sign. If you are on a train that already has the word displayed on the sign, you are on your way to Victory Station at the American Airlines Center.
This is a popular departure point for tourists because of the fun pavement patterns as well as game boards, playing fields and card that can be found under the station canopies. There are also several Dallas attractions near Victory Station.
These include Victory Park, the Katy Trail pedestrian and bicycle path as well as popular hotels. If you want to use Victory Station as an easy way to get to and from Dallas events, a stay at W Dallas Victory Hotel, complete with its amazing infinity pool and other luxuries, would be ideal.
The DART system has three major rail lines to make life easier for you, all passing through the Dallas Central Business District. The Red line goes from Parker Road Station, located in Plano, to Westmoreland Station in West Cliff. The Blue Line goes from downtown’s Garland Station to the Ledbetter area in South Oak Cliff.
Then there is the Green line which covers the Victory station and Martin Luther King (MLK) locations. No matter which line you take, you have access to all the central business, shopping and entertainment centers in downtown Dallas.
Visitors rave about the Dallas Zoo and you can get there quickly by using the DART red line. The zoo is a lovely way for animal lovers to spend a day and it is perfect for families.
The American Airlines Center, Victory Station and the Dallas Zoo are just a few of the most popular destinations available through DART. Using the Dallas Area Rapid Transit System is so enjoyable and stress free that you might decide to follow the lead of some tourists and just take an entire day to ride the train of your choice. This can be a mini adventure, allowing you to get off and explore whatever areas of Dallas you ‘d like.
You never have to wait long for a DART train. They run from 5 am to midnight, with service every 5-10 minutes during rush hours. Even during slower times of the day, trains arrive every 20 minutes or so. You’ll want to check for special times during holidays.
Daily, weekly, monthly and single fare passes on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit System are very reasonable. Single ride options can be used for as much as 90 minutes of travel time and range from $1.75 to $3.75.
Seven day passes vary in price, depending on which options you choose, but cost only as much as five day passes, a significant savings. If you have seniors 65 or older or children ages 5-14 in your party, discounted fares are available. As many as two children under the age of 5 can travel for free as long as they are accompanied by at least one adult.
